The modern tram system in the swedish city of Lund was opened in December 2020. The new line 1 begins at the railway station, passes the university hospital and runs towards the north-east to the MAX IV and ESS research facilities. In the next few years, the new Brunnshög district will be developed along the route, providing apartments and jobs for up to 40.000 people. In the city center, the construction of the tram was used as an opportunity to redesign the surrounding streets.
For the first line, seven cars of the CAF Urbos 3 type were delivered. More lines are planned.
